Decorated Box
This was my entry in the
IPP Design Competition held in Chicago. It won an honorable mention
award.
This is one of the more subtle puzzles I have designed.
A single simultaneous movement is required to unlock the box.
People have told me they really like it because it is a functional puzzle
box. Once you know the secret move you can open the box easily and use
it. But solving the puzzle can take a bit of time if you don't know
it yet.
The lid opens the same way as the Block
Box. It has the same style hinges.
This is the first box I assembled with mitered corners. This was the
ultimate challenge to making this piece and very rewarding. Mitering
corners has opened up a lot of possibilities for designing new puzzles.
This is made from wenge, maple, and walnut.
